Short answer, No.
the red and blue 3D technology that we have now just does not cut
it, and I myself do not see any way you could create 3D perception whilst keeping the precision we as gamers need, and the reason for this is simple. When your eyes perceive something as 3D, they have to adjust to different depths, such as while you look at a finger in front of your face, everything behind it is generally blurry. With 3D goggles the same is true. Take for example a FPS, when you’re looking at the enemy you suddenly see 2 crosshairs because your eyes aren’t focusing on your crosshair because your crosshair isn’t at the same depth as your enemy, and vice versa. Same goes for RTSes with cursors. You may say “How come your crosshair can’t just be at the same depth as your target?” well the simple answer is it would just look weird as hell and throw you off. However, this does not mean that gaming in 3D is a useless technology, shit is still amazing looking as hell. I would suspect that you would be able to play fighters and maybe platformers with 3D goggles (upcoming in the new nintendo title, Mario 3-D.) I think that where this technology will go is into the movie industry, what with pixar
pushing out the same animated movie for itty bitty kids every month or 2, i’m sure they’ll turn to 3-D at some point, and while i’m sure that direct X isn’t what the use in animated movies, i’m still sure that something much like this would be much cheaper than whatever they use to make movies 3-D now.
In short, gaming needs way too much precision for something as out of focus ( c wot i did thar?) as 3-D, but it still looks rewl as hell.
I want to quote your post in my blog. It can?

A Read. You made my morning coffee more enjoyable. WAY more enjoyable.
I really like the fresh perpective you did on the issue. Really was not expecting that when I started off studying. Your concepts were easy to understand that I wondered why I never looked at it before. Glad to know that there’s an individual out there that definitely understands what he’s discussing. Great job
